With a career spanning over three decades, Taj Awad has carved a niche for himself as a formidable force in the legal arena. A distinguished Sudanese legal professional, Taj holds a Master’s in Law and Sharia (L.L.M.) from Omdurman Islamic University. His journey began in the halls of the Sudanese Judiciary, where he served as a judge, presiding over a diverse range of civil, commercial, and family law cases. This foundational experience instilled in him a profound understanding of the laws power to transform lives, fueling his passion for justice and advocacy.
Tajs pursuit of new challenges led him to the UAE, where he initially took on the role of Senior Criminal Investigator with the Abu Dhabi Police General Authority. This pivotal position allowed him to navigate complex legal landscapes and sharpen his investigative skills. His transition to the corporate sector as a Legal Advisor for Deyaar Properties Development PJSC marked a significant turning point in his career. At Dubai Islamic Bank, where he served as Vice President, Senior Legal Counsel, and Head of the Litigation Unit from 2004 to 2021, he solidified his reputation as a trusted legal strategist, managing high-stakes litigation and fostering collaborative relationships.
Now at NJA, Taj leads the firm’s litigation practice, bringing a wealth of expertise in corporate, commercial, contracting, and banking law. His strengths lie in crafting meticulously detailed contracts, delivering insightful legal opinions, and coordinating effectively with external law firms to address complex legal matters. His proficiency also extends to facilitating Board of Directors meetings and ensuring compliance with corporate governance requirements, positioning him as an indispensable partner in strategic decision-making.
